In 2022, blockchain technology enabled the formation of decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs), a new organisational structure that democratises governance by granting voting rights to stakeholders. Using blockchains and tokens, DAOs adopt a bottom-up management approach to decision-making. However, a significant challenge faced by most DAOs is their inefficiency in managing risks and treasuries effectively.
Exponent was developed as an asset management solution to address this issue, targeting DAOs with capital idly held in stablecoins. By analysing DeFi risks and on-chain assets, Exponent enabled DAOs to make data-driven, risk-aware decisions, unlocking greater potential for their treasuries, including enhanced scalability.
Fennec Stash
The first product introduced by Exponent was Fennec Stash, an end-to-end Capital-as-a-Service (CaaS) solution designed to support DAOs in securely and automatically managing treasury growth and risk. Clients received bespoke vault setups tailored to their organisation's unique requirements and preferences. Exponent then managed the vault transparently, taking responsibility for risk identification, asset monitoring, and producing research reports, all while ensuring the treasury's custody remained fully with the client — thereby eliminating custodial risk.
